Install Countertops

At Rock Fin, we take stone countertop installation seriously because we know how important the finished look and integrity of the stone is to your entire remodeling or homebuilding process.  We provide a detailed installation procedure so we can help turn your kitchen into the nicest one on the block!

Templating Your Countertops

You countertop installation doesn’t start in your home – it starts in our fabrication facility!  We create a custom template for your slab that will be used when cutting your stone to its precise measurements.  This is an important part of the installation process, especially for slabs that have a lot of color variation and movement.

Cut-outs in your Countertops

Where we make the cut-outs for your countertops depends on the type of sink you plan to use.  For drop-in sinks or vessel sinks (overmount sinks), we make the cut-outs on the job site – also known as your kitchen!  For undermount sinks, we ask them to be sent to our shop at least 3 days prior to the scheduled install date.  Please have your plumbing company ship the sink to us, or we can happily arrange to pick up the sinks if they are available locally.  All of the cut-outs for undermount sinks are made in our fabrication shop and because we want to make sure the cut-out is the exact right size, we do not make cut-outs based on templates or specification sheets.

Our specialty lies in the custom way we install countertops!

Rock Fin is known for going to great lengths to minimize the number of seams visible in your stone countertop.  We place our seams on long runs, and they’re based on the size of the slabs, location of the cook tops, sinks, dishwasher and other variables.  This is why the template process is important because by working with our template personnel, you can help customize your seam location.

We’ll help you with countertop maintenance as well:

Once we’ve installed your countertop, the process doesn’t end there!  To maintain your stone and keep it as nice as the day you spied it on our showroom floor, we will seal your natural stone countertop with an impregnating sealer and will teach you the quick and easy process of resealing that should be done annually.
